Our Story
First Steps
Our team is built on a foundation of deep robotics expertise. Our founders are industry veterans who have successfully deployed tens of thousands of robot systems across the globe. Through this extensive experience, we identified key roadblocks to wider robotic adoption. The long ROI of robotic automation, frequently in the 5-10 year range, makes it inaccessible for many businesses and applications. This is driven by three main factors: the significant costs of safety infrastructure, including fencing, safety devices, and safety PLCs; the large footprint required for traditional robot installations; and the specialized knowledge required for complex robot programming. We are committed to removing these obstacles and democratizing robotic automation.
Over the Years
In the early days, this vision took shape in a scrappy garage, where the first proof-of-concept was born. This wasn’t just about building robots; it was about reimagining them. The Mantis team poured their energy into designing and building the foundational technologies that would make this vision a reality – the Mantis Safety Core, Mantis Studio, and our proprietary sensor suites.
From those humble beginnings, Mantis has grown into a global force, revolutionizing robotic automation with the invention of the first fenceless, autonomous robot arms for manufacturing and e-commerce fulfillment.
Today, we stand with offices across 3 continents, a team representing over 10 nationalities, and a powerful concentration of expertise, with 90% of our engineers holding Master’s or PhD degrees. But at our heart, we remain driven by that original vision.
Today
Mantis Robotics turned that initial vision into tangible reality: in March 2025, we launched Mantis Robot MR-1. This truly fenceless industrial robot, powered by embedded Physical Intelligence, represents a giant leap forward. MR-1’s 360° safety bubble proactively detects dynamic objects around it, and its real-time adaptive motion planning ensures the safety of people working alongside it, all while operating at ultimate speeds of up to 10 m/s. MR-1 is transforming automation by delivering up to 75% cost savings and offering a drop-in solution for existing manufacturing environments where space is limited and at a premium.
